don't they blend it all up? 😉
From my call on Tuesday, when making the reservation, Michael took care of my request for a cowboy steak for my husband's birthday. The service from Jackson was impeccable and the food was top notch from appetizer to dessert. The bartender also made excellent martinis exactly the way I ordered them.We will be back soon thank you all for making this celebration memorable.
Our experience here was amazing. Everything from the welcome creating, to our waitress Karen (who was so kind and very pleasant), THE FOOD, and the exit was beautiful. Truly well done- we would go again and recommend to friends.
The service was excellent. I would order the fried flounder again. Particularly liked the banana pudding pie
My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary at Anson while vacationing at Isle of Palms. We did make a reservation and was greatly pleased with the Restaurant, our Server “Cathy,” the delicious entrees and especially our dessert - the Almond Bowl. The Restaurant is a gorgeous historic building. Superior rating from us.
Highly recommend. Swordfish and salmon were very popular at our table and devoured. They waiters were extremely respectable with Covid- wearing masks and gloves with tables more than 6 feet a part. Also, need to get the fried green tomatoes!
Great dinner. Love this place. We dine here every Feb for our birthdays and food always delicious. Great atmosphere second floor.
Great experience; friendly knowledgeable staff. Bar yet romantic. 2 thumbs up on the flounder, the whole snapper fish and the goat cheese mash potatoes.
The steak is good! Romantic, quiet upstairs. Our wait staff was Kenneth, he was super! Reservations recommended.
We travel alot all over NY Chicago Florida etc and this restaurant had to be 1 of the worst experiences we ever had. My food was cold our friend ordered a whole fish that really had no meat and all bones that he sent it back and didn't order anything else. $180 later, we went to the pizza store next door to get a slice. The place looks really nice inside and out and the waitress was one of the best but the food was just terrible
As great as it ever was. Any local foodie remembers the restaurant was closed for a couple of years, maybe longer due to a fire. It was one of the original popular fine dining establishments and seems to be even better this time around. I ate at the bar where Jake served me and we entertained each other with movie quotes. Very cool guy. I had the braised beef short ribs with polenta and sauteed spinach. Popeye never had spinach this good. I also had a side of goat cheese mashed potatoes. Yum! I went with Jake's suggested red wine pairing with the short ribs. Amazing on their own but especially together! Everything was great and I plan on going back for the pork shank. See ya soon Jake.
Wonderful restaurant! Went for Thanksgiving with a bunch of friends - they accommodated our group which grew from 2 to 3, to 5 and finally to 6! Food was delicious and the service was great. Lovely atmosphere as well, highly recommend the 8 oz filet & the shrimp pasta.
Hosted 50-60 ppl for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The room was perfect and the service could not have been better. The wait staff were excellent. The food was awesome. My expectations were exceeded and that’s the highest compliment I can give!
The service was wonderful 10/10, the food was good 7/10. Crab cakes were not my favorite but the scallops were delicious.
Made reservations for my husband's birthday. I must say they didn't disappoint. From when we walked in till the time we walked out the service was excellent. The food was very delicious. They made my husband's birthday very special and warming.
My husband and I enjoyed a late night dinner at Anson's. The pork chop was thick and breaded nicely with great seasoning.
Great service. Awesome local catch seafood.
Have eaten in many good Charleston restaurants.... this is my favorite. The combination food, service and ambiance is perfect low country dining.
I have been wanting to take my family to Anson, ever since I took my wife here for a Valentine's dinner last year. So, I decided to take them here to celebrate my birthday. The night started out good with really good appetizers. But, I am a bit disappointed to say. The appetizers were good, but we came for the main course. It was disappointing. The main dishes came out warm, and had the texture like they have been sitting under the warmer too long before being sent out. There was this dark stuff on my Snapper (they did not have Sea Bass, which I was looking forward to for the better part of the year) that tasted more char and salt than I'm not even sure what. My kid had the chicken tenders, and those came out over cooked as well. The fries were cold. I don't even want or can expand on the mediocre quality of my wife's dish. The only dish that wasn't a total disappointment(for me, but not my oldest) was the Flounder. We might try it a 3rd time. But, it'll be a while.
First time there and the food was amazing
Fresh food, amazing service, lovely atmosphere
Lovely old stalwart in Charleston, but we waited forever for our drinks to be served. Food good, but service was slow. Manager was very helpful in recommending where we should park.
Although we have been to Charleston many times over the past several years, we had never eaten at Ansons. We had a wonderful experience and will return there the next time we come for a visit. The food was great and the service was outstanding. We ate in the upstairs dining room , which was very quiet. The waiters we had were very professional and very attentive. The cost of the food was reasonable, especially compared to some of the other comparable restaurants in Charleston. I totally recommend Ansons.
The service here was some of the best I have experienced in a long time. Kept the tables clean and the drinks flowing, knowledgeable about the menu, and fast to act. I can't recommend the flounder, calamari, and crab fondue enough. However I can't say the same about the scrimp. They lacked flavor and were a little bit hard. Prices aren't too bad and there is lots of (paid) parking nearby.
Very good. Memorable. Anson about 1 block from the city market and located in a spacious, multi-level building. The 1st floor was teeming with bar-energy, while the 2d level is more quiet, relaxing and conducive to conversation (romantic?). Per our server's very helpful recommendation, I had the crispy flounder with an apricot jam spread; a leap of faith for me, but it did not disappoint. All in all, it made for a memorable Charleston dining experience.
Great atmosphere and eats, symbolic of the fine dining I've grown accustomed to in Charleston. My hat's off to you Anson!
Anson restaurant transfered us to a different century with their decor and service. It was a truly an "old Charleston" experience. The food was very good with fresh ingredients and unique flavors.
Wonderful dining experience! Upstairs decor was beautiful and quiet. Food was delicious! Service was attentive and very courteous. Highly recommend!
Scallop special excellent. She crab soup excellent. Fried chicken like my mom used to make. Grits delicious. Swordfish very good. Ice cream in toffee basket excellent. Service impeccable. Love this place
Nice place with amazing food and extra ordinary service. I really enjoyed and would recommend.
We had friend for the weekend and he suggested Anson's. He had lived here 15 years ago and this was his favorite place. I warned him that a lot can change in 15 years, but we wanted a new experience and he wanted to relive his memory. Well, no disappointments. We were early, but our time at the bar was enjoyable with a great conversation with the bartenders. The Crispy Flounder was our friend's favorite, so we both ordered it. If you go, this is a "must order". The service was attentive without hovering over us. Hate hovering. Would we go back? Definitely.
Just enjoyed a fantastic meal with Jackson as our waiter. Absolutely nothing could have been better... the description of the oysters to the oysters themselves, flounder, scallops, magically refilling water glasses ending with the best creme brûlée and chocolate martini I’ve ever had. No wonder we come here each time we are in the low country.
Anson offers great food and service to match all wrapped in a warm environment right on the beaten path. The flounder is fried whole and served piping hot and sticky from the sweet savory sauce they douse it in, delicious! The fried okra and fried green tomatoes are done with just the right amount of cornmeal. Good wine selection and fast bar service. I recommend this for a good meal that’s not too fussy or formal.
My husband and I visited here for a date night and had a lovely experience. Our waitress, KJ, was phenomenal - she was knowledgeable about all the food and made it a very enjoyable time for us. I highly recommend the roasted garlic appetizer as well as the whole flounder. They cut the head off and cut the meat in such a way that it is super easy to eat. Great romantic atmosphere...highly recommend!
it was awesome, service was the best I ever had, mussels app was so flavorful , flounder was so good. I will be back!
Five of us had a very nice dinner. Everything on the table was appealing and delicious.
Had a fine dining experience that was classic Charleston.Bar & restaurant have a classic Southern sophisticated feel.We got dressed up for dinner, but other tourists were more casual. The drinks were great, fried green tomatoes were outstanding.Shrimp & grits was really good, tasted freshness of the seafood.Waiter was a little grumpy.Overall a good experience.
The crispy flounder with the apricot shallot sauce is to die for! Sooo tender perfectly cooked. Sweetest staff.
Absolutely wonderful restaurant in every regard. Friendly, attentive and professional staff. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Beautiful food. Highly recommended when dining in Charleston SC. In our opinion, one of the best restaurants in the city. Do yourself a favor and give this charming restaurant a try. You will not be disappointed.
The fried flounder with apricots was a suggestion by a friend and it was delicious! The almond basket was a tasty end to a wonderful meal.
Beautiful atmosphere. The staff was amazing. Started with fresh oysters on half shell which was amazing. For entries we had the crispy flounder and braised short ribs. Both were fantastic.
Absolutely the best meal I have ever eaten! And the dessert with the waffle and icecream with berries was delicious!!
Great, charismatic server, filet hit the spot!
Excellent service and excellent food! Thank you for the anniversary dessert!
Stellar food, the atmosphere and spacing of tables (Covid) was excellent. Food was exactly what I expect when I hear Charleston being called a food capital. A+
Excellent service. Best shrimp and grits ever as chef ground grits in house. Atmosphere relaxing. It's an A+ from us!
Food was awesome and service was outstanding! Thank you Tess for the great experience.. you made it even better!
Beautiful restaurant with many options for seating. A long bar is the center of activity in the lower portion of the restaurant. The service was great - attentive and helpful. Water glasses were continually refilled. The menu gave a good selection of meat and seafood options. The meals were prepared nicely but were a little too sauced so that the taste of the meat was overpowered. The portions were hearty and filling.
Excellent all around. Steak, mashed potatoes, shrimp and grits, and the surprise of the evening was the almond bowl, which is basically an ice cream sundae with a waffle-cone like bowl made from hand-made sweetened crushed and rolled almonds. Hard to describe. Easy to eat. The service was also extremely friendly and attentive and they handled some of our more difficult questions with delight and ease. All around an excellent experience.
Food was great and service outstanding. The filet and we had the shrimp and grits
The whole flounder was more than an explosion of delight.
